J.W. Rutherford Builder Inc. takes pride in building the most energy efficient homes available. Building materials, designs and procedures are utilized to insure that every customer recieves the most energy efficient home possible. A few of the tools utitlized are:

Air conditioning and heating design:
All custom homes built by J.W. Rutherford Builder Inc. utilize air conditioning and heating systems that are tailored to each custom home. By designing a unique system/ configuration for each home, energy effeciency is improved by utilizing the equipment and configuration that can handle the job in an efficient manner.

Tyvek house wap:
Our custom homes feature Dupont’s Tyvek house wrap. This improves energy efficiency by deterring treated air from escaping the home, and by keeping untreated air outside where it belongs. This keeps systems from being needlessly overworked, and wasting power.

Insulation:
Every home owner is given their choice of insulation grade wall insulation (R-13, R-15, or R-17) and ceiling insulation (R-30 or R-38)

Foil backed roof decking:
We also recommend using a foil-backed roof decking that increases energy efficiency by keeping attic temperatures 10 to 20 degrees cooler in the sweltering heat of Texas’summer months.
